Sana'a - Saba:
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Jamal Amer addressed letters to the international community regarding the war crimes committed by the US aggression against the African migrant shelter in Saada.
In letters addressed to the President of the UN General Assembly, the President of the Security Council for April 2025, the Secretary-General of the UN, the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the President and members of the Human Rights Council, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that the US has launched approximately 1,300 airstrikes and naval bombardments to date, targeting hundreds of civilians, including women and children, as well as dozens of civilian objects, including residential neighborhoods, ports, airports, farms, health facilities, water tanks, factories, and archaeological sites.
He pointed out that the latest US crime was the targeting of the illegal migrant shelter in Saada City last Monday, which housed 125 migrants, all of African nationalities. The attack resulted in the deaths of 60 and the injury of 65, according to a preliminary toll.
Minister Amer emphasized in the letters that this aggression constitutes a full-fledged war crime. This is a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international humanitarian law, particularly the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols of 1977, the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol.
He pointed out that this aggression demonstrates that the United States has not only killed civilians and targeted civilian objects in Yemen, but has also extended its sinful hand to target African migrants who left their countries in search of safety and stability.
The Foreign Minister concluded the letters by renewing his call to the international community, particularly the Security Council, to break its deafening silence and condemn the crimes committed by the United States against African migrants, as well as the crimes it is committing against civilians and civilian objects in Yemen, which contravene all international norms and conventions. He also called for the formation of an independent international commission to investigate all crimes committed by the United States against the Yemeni people and their capabilities, to ensure accountability and prevent impunity.
