Villarreal secured a 1-0 victory over Espanyol on Sunday in the closing match of Matchday 33 in the Spanish La Liga.

The winning goal came from youngster Yéremi Pino, who found the back of the net in the 52nd minute, sealing the three points for his team.

With this win, Villarreal broke a two-match winless streak, reigniting their hopes of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League. They now sit in 5th place with 55 points, the last spot that grants access to European competition. Meanwhile, Espanyol remains in 13th place with 39 points, still comfortably clear of the relegation zone.
