Hodeida - Saba:

Al-Marawe'ah district water project, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at a total cost of 245 million riyals, was officially handed over on Wednesday in al-Marawe'ah district in Hodeida province.

The project features an integrated solar energy system, a 200-cubic-meter water tower tank, a water network transmission line, electrical transformers, and a high-voltage line.

During the handover ceremony, Deputy Governor for Services Affairs Mohammed Halisi emphasized the project's significance in improving water services for the district's residents. He commended the ICRC's support for essential infrastructure, particularly given the challenging circumstances facing the country.

Director of the Water Corporation Engineer Abdulrahman Ishaq hailed the project as a major step forward in enhancing the operational capacity of the Al-Maraw'ah water system, especially due to the sustainable use of solar energy.

Abdullah al-Marwani, the Director of al-Marawe'ah district, expressed gratitude for the ICRC's tangible humanitarian interventions, noting the project's direct contribution to alleviating the suffering of citizens in previously water-scarce areas.

Jaber al-Razihi, Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society, praised the fruitful collaboration with the ICRC in implementing this vital project, underscoring the Society's ongoing commitment to supporting priority service initiatives.

Makram Su, the Director of the Red Cross Mission in the Governorate, stated that the project is part of the ICRC's broader efforts to improve access to clean water and enhance the living conditions of affected communities.

The handover ceremony was attended by various local officials and representatives from the water corporation and tribal affairs.

Following the handover, the Deputy Governor and water officials also inspected other water projects in the district to assess progress and identify needs for expansion or rehabilitation as part of a comprehensive plan for the water sector in Al-Maraw'ah.
