Sana'a – SABA:

The General Authority for Maritime Affairs in Sana'a strongly condemned the U.S. aggression that targeted its branch in Al-Hodeidah Governorate with several airstrikes, resulting in the complete destruction of the building and rendering it non-operational.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the authority described the attack as a brutal and criminal act against a purely civilian institution. It affirmed that such actions would only strengthen its resolve and commitment to fulfilling its vital duties, primarily ensuring maritime safety and protecting the marine environment from pollution.

The statement emphasized that the authority’s leadership and technical-administrative staff remain at their posts and are continuing to perform their national duties. It reiterated that the authority, as an active member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), affirms the purely civilian nature of its work.

The authority called on the international community, the United Nations, and all human rights and maritime organizations to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities regarding this blatant targeting, which constitutes a clear violation of all laws, norms, and international agreements.

The General Authority for Maritime Affairs held the United States fully responsible for this unjustified aggression, which it said is part of a continuous series of violations targeting Yemen’s civilian infrastructure.
