The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that Ukrainian forces continued to target energy sites, despite the Kyiv regime's commitment to the agreement to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.
They attacked two sites in the Bryansk Oblast and Crimea.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement:
"On the evening of March 26, Kyiv forces attacked a site belonging to the Bryansk Energy Company with a drone. Ukrainian artillery shelling this morning also targeted high-voltage lines in the Klimovsky district of Bryansk Oblast, southwestern Russia, causing power outages in several areas."
The ministry indicated in its statement that air defenses shot down a Ukrainian drone last night over the Cape Tarkhankut area of Crimea. The target was an underground gas storage terminal.
The Russian Defense Ministry announced yesterday that Kyiv forces had committed other violations targeting energy facilities on March 25, despite Volodymyr Zelenskyy's announcement of his acceptance of the agreements concluded at the Riyadh talks on March 24.
The Russian Defense Ministry's statement emphasized that "the Kyiv regime, by continuing to harm Russia's civilian energy infrastructure, is in fact doing everything it can to disrupt the Russian-American agreements on interim measures for resolving the Ukrainian conflict."
The Kremlin announced in a statement on the results of the Russian-American talks in Riyadh last Monday, March 24, that Russia and the United States had agreed to develop measures to implement the agreements between the two countries' presidents regarding a ban on strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine for a period of 30 days, starting March 18, 2025, with the possibility of extending the agreement and withdrawing from it in the event of non-compliance by either party.
For its part, the White House confirmed in two separate statements that the United States had agreed with both Russia and Ukraine to "put in place measures to implement the agreements... regarding the prohibition of strikes against energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine."
