London - Saba:

The England national football team achieved its second victory in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, defeating Latvia 3-0 in the match held yesterday evening in Group 1 of the competition.

The England team took the lead in the 38th minute through Reece James, before Harry Kane added the second goal in the 68th minute, and Iberce Eze scored the third goal in the 76th minute.

The England team had previously defeated Albania 2-0 in the first round.

In another match in the same group, the Albanian national team defeated its guest, Andorra, 3-0.

Ray Manaj scored two goals for Albania in the 9th and 19th minutes, and Mirto Uzuni added the third goal in the second minute of stoppage time.

England now have six points at the top of the group, three ahead of Latvia, who opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Andorra, and Albania, who bounced back from their opening-round defeat with a home win over Andorra.

In Group G, Poland achieved their second win, defeating Malta with two goals from Karol Swiderski in the 27th and 51st minutes.

Poland had won their first match against Lithuania 1-0.

In the same group, Finland drew 2-2 with hosts Lithuania.

In Group H, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Cyprus 2-1, and Romania defeated San Marino 5-1.

The winners of the 12 groups will qualify for the expanded finals (48 teams instead of 32), scheduled for the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The runners-up will then enter a four-way playoff, also featuring four teams qualified from the UEFA Nations League.
