Former Pentagon advisor: Hamas cannot be defeated militarily

Former Pentagon advisor: Hamas cannot be defeated militarily
[Sun, 09 Feb 2025 16:40:53 +0300]

Washington - Saba:

Former advisor for Middle East affairs at the US Department of Defense "Pentagon" Yasmine al-Jamal has stressed that Hamas as an organization "cannot be destroyed militarily because it is an ideological organization."

This came in response to a statement by the Prime Minister of the Zionist entity, Benjamin Netanyahu, regarding the objectives of the war in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Jamal said in an interview with the American "CNN" network: "It seems that Netanyahu is trying to hedge because he did not discuss "Israel's" readiness to enter into negotiations in good faith regarding the second phase."

She pointed out that the occupying entity must now make concessions that she described as "major and completely contrary to what Netanyahu's hardline right-wing partners in the coalition want." She explained that they lie in "the withdrawal of Zionist forces from Gaza and a commitment to ending the war permanently."

Netanyahu had said: "Saudi Arabia has enough land to provide a state for the Palestinians," in response to the Kingdom's confirmation that it would not establish diplomatic relations with the occupying entity without establishing a Palestinian state; This prompted the Saudi Foreign Ministry to issue a statement in which it affirmed its absolute rejection of the displacement of Palestinians, without referring to Netanyahu's statements about establishing a Palestinian state on Saudi territory.

In the past few hours, Netanyahu said: "President Trump completely agreed with me that we will do everything to recover all prisoners, but there will be no Hamas presence." He added: "We will do everything we can to recover all prisoners, and ensure their security. These are instructions to the delegation to convey the message to the mediators."

On Saturday evening, Netanyahu announced the dispatch of a delegation to Doha with the aim of conducting negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza; while the leader of the Zionist opposition, Yair Lapid, demanded that "the delegation be given full authorization to complete the deal."
