Sana'a - Saba:
A meeting in Sana'a today, headed by the Minister of Electricity, Energy and Water, Dr. Ali Saif, and including the head of the water and sanitation program at UNICEF, "Peter Harvey", discussed the organization's plan for the water and sanitation sector for the years 2025-2026 AD, which will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity and Water and its affiliated entities.

The meeting, which included Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy and Water Adel Saleh Bader, and the National Coordinator of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Cluster, Eng. Tawfiq Al-Haroush, evaluated the achievements of the 2024 plan, including water and sanitation projects, and the absorption of the remaining projects in the 2025-2026 plan, according to the priorities and needs of the Ministry of Electricity and Water and its affiliated entities.

The meeting, which was attended by the Directors of the Urban Water and Sanitation Project, Muhammad Al-Shami, the Water Emergency Unit, Abdul Karim Al-Akhram, and the Emergency Operations in the Water Sector, Eng. Aref Al-Thawr, reviewed the partnership mechanism between the Ministry and UNICEF and ways to develop it and develop treatments capable of overcoming the difficulties and challenges facing the implementation of water and sanitation projects.

In the meeting, the Minister of Electricity and Water stressed the keenness to enhance cooperation with UNICEF, in a way that expands the existing partnership to implement the necessary interventions in the water and sanitation sectors.

He expressed hope that the partnership between the Ministry and UNICEF would result in the continued mobilization of funding to implement priority water and sanitation projects in areas of need in various governorates.

Minister Saif stressed the need to support sustainable projects that meet the needs of society and translate the directives of the revolutionary leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the aspirations of the Government of Change and Construction.

In turn, the Deputy Minister of Electricity and Water stressed the need to implement priority water and sanitation projects according to the plan of the Government of Change and Construction, to alleviate the suffering of citizens in light of the current situation.

He praised UNICEF's continued support for the water and sanitation sector, stressing its readiness to provide the necessary facilities for the organization to continue its interventions in implementing sustainable projects.

For his part, the Head of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Program at UNICEF, Harvey, indicated that the Ministry of Electricity and Water occupies a priority in the organization's plans due to its importance in providing water and sanitation services to citizens.

He stressed that UNICEF will work to mobilize the necessary funding from donor partners to implement new water and sanitation projects and complete stalled projects.
