Malian authorities announced on Tuesday that several suspected gunmen were killed in an attack on the Malian army.
The Malian armed forces said in a statement published on its Facebook account that "the confrontations took place in the coastal region of Nyoro in the west of the country late on Monday."
"Terrorists who infiltrated the city in large numbers with internal partners attacked some sensitive points in the city," the statement added.
The army confirmed, according to the statement, that "the situation is under control with the killing of 30 terrorists and the recovery of some weapons."
