The second round of the 2024 Wheelchair Basketball Championship for People with Motor Disabilities, organized by the General Federation of Sports for Persons with Disabilities, continued today at the 22nd of May Club, on the occasion of the national, Arab, and International Day of People with Disabilities.
The tournament is sponsored by the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Social Affairs and Labor, with the participation of 54 male and female players representing associations, centers, and clubs for people with disabilities in the capital's municipality, funded by the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Today, two matches were held in the men's category, the first meeting brought together Al-Qassam team with Al-Sinwar team, which ended with Al-Sinwar team players achieving their first victory with a score of 22/21, while Al-Qassam team lost its second match after losing the opening meeting with the "Al-Aqsa Flood" team.
In the second meeting, the "Al-Aqsa Flood" team continued its lead in the group by achieving the second victory over Al-Aqsa team with 30/28, in a meeting that witnessed competition and exchange of attacks between the two teams.
The third round of the tournament will start tomorrow in the "women" category with two matches, in the first meeting Yamaniyat team with Al-Azima team, and in the second match, Al-Israr team will meet Al-Amal team.
Today's matches were managed by a technical committee headed by Mohammed Haider and monitored by Abdo Zayed, the main referee Abdul Karim Al-Halali, the assistant referee Talal Al-Hamati, the general registrar Saleh Rassam, Mikati Firas Al-Shahari, and Mikati 24 Mona Al-Harasi.
