Sana'a - Saba:

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology hosted an event on Monday aimed at raising awareness about information security among the ministry's employees.

The event's primary goal was to highlight the importance of information security, introduce common security threats, and equip employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to protect themselves from breaches and cyberattacks that pose a threat to information security.

Information security specialist, Engineer Sadiq al-Selwi, emphasized the significance of the seminar for the ministry's staff, focusing on the protection of systems they use, including computers and personal phones. He explained that information security is a broad concept encompassing all means of safeguarding electronic devices from breaches and attacks, with cybersecurity being an integral part of it.

Engineer al-Selwi stressed that the importance of information security lies in promoting awareness and cultivating a security-conscious culture. He also highlighted the need for adopting policies that incorporate multiple measures to ensure robust information security and protection.

During his presentation, Engineer al-Selwi reviewed the stages and methods of hacking, as well as the various forms of deception used to manipulate individuals into revealing confidential information. He warned that such tactics, which include luring people to download malicious software, are among the most common methods of electronic fraud and cyberattacks.

Furthermore, Engineer al-Selwi provided advice on how to avoid social engineering attacks. He recommended verifying the authenticity of sources, confirming the identity of individuals, avoiding unreliable media and links, and exercising caution when using social media platforms.
