Sana'a - Saba:

The Sixth Yemeni International Conference on Neurosurgery and Spine began in the capital Sana'a, with the participation of Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, a member of the Supreme Political Council.

The conference, which will run for three days, is being organized by the Yemeni Society of Neurosurgeons and Spine under the theme "Keeping up with development for a better future."

It features more than 65 Yemeni surgeons and 25 international specialists who will discuss 50 scientific papers on various topics such as brain and nerve tumor surgery, neurovascular deformities, spine and peripheral nerve issues, pain treatment, and brain and spine injury surgery.

In his opening remarks, Dr. bin Habtoor emphasized the significance of the conference, noting that it provides a crucial platform for doctors to present their research and scientific advancements. He acknowledged the difficult nature of the field and praised the efforts of doctors who contribute their expertise despite challenging circumstances, underlining their role in advancing medical science in Yemen.

Dr. bin Habtoor also expressed appreciation for the association’s commitment to holding these conferences regularly, showcasing the scientific value and achievements of Yemeni doctors. He described the event as a demonstration of national unity, where specialists from all over Yemen come together to collaborate and share knowledge.

In addition, Abdulsalam Hashoul, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, highlighted the role of neurosurgeons and spine doctors in saving lives during the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

He lauded the Yemeni Association of Neurosurgeons for organizing this conference and underscored the importance of such scientific gatherings in enhancing medical skills and reducing the need for Yemenis to seek treatment abroad.

Dr. Mujahid Musar, head of the Medical Council and president of the conference, also praised the resilience of Yemen's medical community, which has continued to thrive despite more than a decade of conflict. He stressed that the conference would serve as a vital platform for exchanging knowledge and fostering international collaboration in the fields of neurology and neurosurgery.

Overall, the conference is not only an opportunity to update Yemen’s medical professionals on the latest advances in neurosurgery but also a testament to their perseverance in continuing to provide critical healthcare amid ongoing challenges.
