Lima - Saba:
Chinese President Xi Jinping called on Saturday for joint cooperation to steer economic globalization in the right direction and promote a globally inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization for the benefit of various countries and societies, warning of political unrest due to economic fragmentation and protectionism.

The Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted Xi as saying in a speech to the APEC 2024 CEO Summit: The world is going through a new period of turmoil and transformation, warning that the serious challenge of economic globalization is like sailing on a river, "either we move forward or drift downstream."

Economic globalization is an objective demand of growing social productive forces and a natural result of advances in science and technology, the Chinese president said, stressing that advances in science and technology should benefit all mankind, help developing countries build their science and technology capabilities and promote the global flow of knowledge and technology.

At the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the CPC adopted a comprehensive plan to further deepen reform in all fields to drive China-style modernization, Xi noted, promising that China will remain firmly on the path of green development, an important force for global green transformation, and an important part of the global movement to tackle climate change.

He also called for joint efforts to strengthen solidarity and cooperation, stand together in the face of global challenges, and form a formidable force for the common prosperity of the world and a brighter future for mankind.
During his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on the sidelines of the IKE Forum, the Chinese president urged Japan to jointly work to defend free trade in the world, saying that China and Japan's economic interests, production chains and logistics are deeply interconnected, so Beijing and Tokyo must protect the global free trade system.
