Hajjah - Saba:
Hajjah province undersecretaries Ibrahim Amer and Adel Shali on Sunday visited several districts to assess the damage caused by recent floods in the region.
The two officials toured affected areas in the valleys of Buhal in Abs District, Bani Zaid, al-Masfa, and al-Mekhlaf in Aslam district, Anqan, al-Madraj, al-Aqil, and al-Kharouq in Khairan district, as well as al-Jarra in Aflah al-Yaman district. They observed the extent of the destruction and the impact on local communities.
Province Undersecretary Amer emphasized the urgency of implementing immediate solutions and interventions to address the damage in flood-affected areas, particularly in Al-Matain village in Buhal Valley. The deputies noted that efforts to repair the damage are moving forward, based on engineering studies conducted by specialists. Plans are in place to prevent future flood damage by controlling water flow in these vulnerable valleys.
Amer and Shali were accompanied by Eng. Amin al-Saidi, Technical Director of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, and Majed Odhabi, Executive Director of the Abs Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Society. The delegation also visited the rice fields in Wadi al-Jarrah in Aflah al-Yaman to evaluate the flooding’s impact on local agriculture.
