OCCUPIED AL-QUDS September 06. 2024 (Saba) - A recent poll conducted by Maariv newspaper reveals significant shifts in Israeli political preferences and public opinion.
The survey shows Likud gaining a lead with 23 seats, up from 21 in the previous poll, while Netanyahu has edged ahead of Benny Gantz in perceived suitability for prime minister. Netanyahu scores 42% compared to Gantz’s 40%, reversing Gantz's previous lead.
The poll also indicates a strengthening of the coalition bloc, now holding 52 seats, compared to 58 for the opposition parties. The Arab parties collectively secure 10 seats. The "State Camp" has gained one seat, reaching 22, while the "Democratic Party" and the Haredi party, United Torah Judaism, have seen a decrease in their seat counts.
In a notable shift, 48% of the Zionist public supports giving up control of the Philadelphi Corridor in exchange for a hostage deal, compared to 37% opposing this trade.
The poll results show Likud, State Camp, and Yisrael Beiteinu leading, while the Democratic Party and United Torah Judaism face declines.
Netanyahu also outperforms Yair Lapid (45% vs. 36%) and Avigdor Lieberman (43% vs. 35%) in the prime minister suitability test.
However, Naftali Bennett is favored over Netanyahu by 49% to 34% for the role of prime minister.
