MOSCOW September 02. 2024 (Saba) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said the main cause of the current tragedy in Ukraine was the deliberate anti-Moscow policy pursued by the collective West led by the United States of America.
Putin said in a written interview with the Mongolian newspaper "Onodor" on the eve of his visit, according to Sputnik on Monday: "The main cause of the current tragedy in Ukraine is the deliberate anti-Russian policy pursued by the collective West, led by the United States.
Putin noted that "the current situation in Ukraine has been significantly influenced by a whole range of external and internal factors.
"They have sought for decades to establish their full control over Ukraine.
They funded nationalist and anti-Russian organizations there, systematically spreading the concept that Russia is Ukraine's eternal enemy and the main threat to its existence.
In essence, Ukraine has become a bargaining chip in the implementation of the West's geopolitical ambitions.
He noted that the collective West views Ukraine as a weapon in the war against Russia, Moscow sees this and will continue to carry out its tasks within the framework of the special military operation for the security of the Russian Federation.
Describing the current situation as a logical consequence of the West's destructive strategy, the head of state stressed.
"Western elites continue to provide the current regime (Kiev) with extensive political, financial and military support, considering it a weapon in the war against Russia.
We see all this and will continue to carry out everything that has been set to continue tasks within the framework of the special military operation to ensure the security of Russia and our citizens.
The Kremlin announced that President Putin will visit Mongolia on the third of this month at the invitation of Mongolian President Okhnagin Horalsuk, to attend the celebrations of the eighty-fifth anniversary of the victory of the Soviet army over Japan and the liberation of Mongolia during World War II.
