MOSCOW August 28. 2024 (Saba) - The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that 92 US citizens were permanently banned from entering Russian territory in response to the anti-Moscow path pursued by the administration of US President Joe Biden.
"In response to the anti-Russian path pursued by the Joe Biden administration with the stated goal of 'inflicting a strategic defeat on Moscow,' the part of which was sanctions against Russian politicians, representatives of the business community, scientific and cultural figures, journalists and Russian media structures, entry into the Russian Federation was permanently banned for 92 American citizens," Sputnik quoted the ministry as saying in a statement.
According to the department, the entry ban list, in particular, includes several employees of the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post and the New York Times.
"The expansion of the ban list for those directly involved in anti-Russian activities will continue with determination and steadfastness in response to the madness of sanctions imposed by the ruling elite of the United States," the ministry stressed.
The United States, the European Union and their allies have imposed sanctions on Russia over its military operation in Ukraine, which began in 2022. Western sanctions have targeted Russia's financial sector and banks, along with other sectors of the economy.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western sanctions imposed on Russia have not resulted in obstacles that Russia cannot overcome, and expressed hope that this situation will continue in the future.
