NEW YORK August 22. 2024 (Saba) - The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, on Thursday said that about two million people were forced to displace in Gaza, due to the continued Zionist aggression.

during the Security Council session on developments in the Middle East, Wennesland said that it would take years to restore the situation to normal in Gaza, according to Sama News Agency.

He added that violence must stop to prevent the escalation in the region from spreading.

The risks threaten humanitarian missions in the Gaza Strip, he warned.

Turning to the situation in the occupied West Bank, Wennesland said that "the West Bank lives on the crater of a volcano because of the violence."

The UN official confirmed after his visit to Gaza that he had witnessed the devastating impact of hostilities in the Strip.

He stressed that "urgent action is needed to alleviate the humanitarian crisis facing the Gaza Strip."
