SANA'A August 16. 2024 (Saba) - Yemen's Finance Minister Abduljabbar Mohammed held a key meeting on Friday to assess the ongoing and completed projects of the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, highlighting significant strides in infrastructure and community support across the country.
The meeting, attended by the Unit's General Coordinator Kamal Khaled and Director General Eng. Shihab al-Shami, provided a comprehensive overview of the Unit's achievements over the past two years.
A total of 983 direct intervention projects and 3,470 community initiative support projects have been implemented across various sectors, including roads, water, dams, health, education, and public services.
The review revealed substantial progress in road development, with 440 projects completed under direct interventions and 2,964 under community initiatives. Water projects accounted for 342 direct interventions and 214 community-supported initiatives.
Additionally, 17 dams and barriers were completed through direct efforts, with another 126 projects supported by community initiatives.
The meeting also highlighted efforts in education, health, and renewable energy, with 137 direct intervention projects and 166 community-backed initiatives in these vital areas.
The Unit’s work in renewable energy has seen the completion of 47 projects, showcasing the government's commitment to sustainable development amidst challenging circumstances.
