WASHINGTON August 16. 2024 (Saba) - The Washington Post newspaper predicted on Friday that Hezbollah would not respond to the assassination of its military commander, Fouad Shukr, by the "Zionist enemy" during the current round of negotiations in the Qatari capital, Doha.
The American newspaper quoted a source close to Hezbollah as saying: "The party will not attack Israel during the summit held in Qatar."
According to the Washington Post, the threat of military action by Iran's Hezbollah against Israel was looming, in supposed "retaliation" for the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
It said: This attack may be delayed until diplomatic efforts continue.
For its part, the Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" quoted an official close to Hezbollah as saying: "The organization will not implement its response during the Qatar talks."
