MINSK August 11. 2024 (Saba) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that on August 9, the Belarusian air defense forces destroyed several air targets in the south of the country, which are believed to be attack drones coming from the direction of Ukraine.
The Russian RT channel quoted the Belarusian president as saying: "At 19:04, at an altitude of 1.5 kilometers and a distance of 6.5 kilometers, the air defense forces destroyed several targets over the territory of Belarus. During the night and this morning, searches were conducted for what was destroyed. We believe that these were attack drones that violated the airspace of the Republic of Belarus coming from Ukraine."
"I don't understand why Ukraine is doing this. We have to check the circumstances of this, but, as I said, we have clearly stated this with them and informed them that any provocations will not go unanswered," Lukashenko said.
Earlier, the governor of the Russian Yaroslavl region announced the destruction of several Ukrainian drones.
The governor said that enemy drones tried to attack an institution in the region. No material losses or injuries were recorded.
