NEW YORK August 10. 2024 (Saba) - Iran's representative to the United Nations late on Friday said his country has the right to legitimate defense and this has nothing to do with ceasefire in Gaza.
Tasnim International News Agency quoted the Iranian representative to the United Nations in response to the media about whether Iran will postpone its response to the Zionist entity after next week's talks on the ceasefire and whether there are also existing channels to convey messages between Iran and America, saying: The permanent ceasefire in Gaza is our priority; and any agreement that Hamas accepts will be acceptable to us.
He added: Our national security and sovereignty have been violated in the recent terrorist act carried out by the Zionist entity, and we have the right to legitimate defense, and this has nothing to do with the ceasefire in Gaza; but we hope that our response will be timely and in a way that does not harm the potential ceasefire.
He continued, saying: There have always been direct and intermediate official channels to convey messages between Iran and America. Both sides prefer to keep the details secret.
