MOSCOW August 10. 2024 (Saba) - The Russian National Anti-Terrorism Committee late on Friday said counterterrorism system has been implemented in Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk provinces.
Sputnik Agency quoted the committee as saying in a statement that "the Kiev regime has made an unprecedented attempt to destabilize the situation in a number of regions of our country."
The committee noted that the terrorist attack launched by armed Ukrainian units on Kursk province resulted in civilian casualties and left damages to residential buildings and other civilian facilities.
The statement added: "In order to ensure the security of citizens and combat the threat of terrorist acts carried out by the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance units, the Chairman of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, Director of the Federal Security Service of Russia, A.V. Bortnikov, decided to implement counter-terrorism operations in the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, starting from August 9, 2024."
It pointed out that "government agencies are taking additional measures aimed at ensuring the security of citizens, maintaining law and order and strengthening anti-terrorist protection of facilities."
In the same context, the acting governor of the Kursk region of Russia, Alexei Smirnov, announced that the regime of counter-terrorism operations has been implemented in the region, due to the high level of sabotage and terrorist threats from Ukraine.
Smirnov said in a post on "Telegram", according to the "Sputnik" agency: "Due to the high level of sabotage and terrorist threats from Ukraine, the regime of counter-terrorism operations has been imposed in the Kursk region."
