BAGHDAD August 09. 2024 (Saba) - Leader of the Iraqi State of Law Coalition Sheikh Haider al-Lami confirmed on Friday that America prevents Iraq from obtaining American or Russian air defense systems.
Al-Lami indicated that Washington stands against any Iraqi move to protect sovereignty and maintain the country's security and safety.
He said in a statement reported by the Iraqi "al-Maalouma" Agency that "America prevents Iraq from obtaining Siram air defense system, and Washington also prevents it from obtaining the Russian C-400 organization."
Al-Lami added "America refuses to make Iraq strong or possess weapons and air defense systems, as it does not give Iraq the right to defend itself, its land and its skies from any internal or external violation that affects its sovereignty."
He explained that "Turkey is also continuing to build military bases in northern Iraq, at a time when America stands against any Iraqi military move towards defending the homeland and deterring any attempts that affect sovereignty.
