GAZA August 09. 2024 (Saba) - The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine issued a statement on Friday condemning the increasing number of Palestinian prisoners who have died under torture in Israeli prisons and detention centers.
The movement denounced these deaths as clear evidence of the occupation’s deliberate policy of killing and mistreating the Palestinian people.
The statement characterized the torture inflicted on prisoners by the Israeli authorities as a war crime and a gross violation of international humanitarian laws and conventions.
It highlighted that these brutal practices are a disgrace to the international community, which has remained passive in the face of such atrocities.
The movement criticized international organizations and institutions for their inaction, despite being aware of the severe abuse and violation of rights experienced by thousands of prisoners.
The recent revelations of extreme brutality against prisoners, according to the statement, underscore Israel’s systematic efforts to eliminate Palestinians, including those who symbolize resistance and national pride.
The Islamic Jihad Movement called on global citizens and human rights advocates to take immediate action, pressuring Israel to cease its brutal treatment of prisoners and to work towards improving their detention conditions.
