GAZA August 06. 2024 (Saba) -The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced the selection of its president in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, to be the head of the movement's political bureau, succeeding the martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in the Iranian capital Tehran about a week ago.
The movement said in a brief statement published on Tuesday evening: "The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announces the selection of leader Yahya Sinwar as head of the movement's political bureau, succeeding the martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh, may Allah have mercy on him."
Yahya Sinwar, head of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" in the Gaza Strip and head of its political bureau, born in 1962, was arrested by the Zionist enemy several times and sentenced to four life sentences before being released in a prisoner exchange deal in 2011, and returned to his activity in the leadership of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the "military wing of Hamas", and was elected head of the movement in the Gaza Strip in 2017 and again in 2021.
The Zionist enemy considers him the architect of the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on the seventh of October 2023, which inflicted human and military losses and shook the image of its intelligence and security services in front of the world, announcing that its liquidation was one of the goals of its operation "Iron Swords" on the Gaza Strip, which came in response to Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
Yahya Ibrahim Hassan Sinwar was born on the seventh of October 1962 in Khan Yunis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip, his family was displaced from the city of Majdal in the northeast of the Gaza Strip after it was occupied by the Zionist enemy in 1948 and changed its name to "Ashkelon" "Ashkelon".
He was educated at Khan Younis Secondary School for Boys, before joining the Islamic University of Gaza and graduating with a bachelor's degree in Arabic studies.
He grew up in difficult circumstances and was affected in his childhood by the repeated attacks and harassment of the Zionist enemy of the camp residents.
On November 21, 2011, he married Samar Mohamed Abu Zumar, a Gazan woman with a master's degree in theology from the Islamic University of Gaza, and has one son, Ibrahim.
Yahya Sinwar was a prominent student activist during his university studies, as he was an active member of the Islamic Bloc, the student branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine.
