DIYALA August 04. 2024 (Saba): The First Division of the Iraqi Army began on Sunday a three-folded security operation in the vicinity of nine villages in the Al-Wand basin, north of Diyala.
The Iraqi news agency "Maloma" quoted a security source as saying: "The forces of the First Division began from three main axes to carry out a security operation in the vicinity of the villages (Mohamed Shirk, Hamad Hilal, Mardan, Karim Al-Daoud, Ali Bek and other villages adjacent to the River Al-Wand down to the Helwan Bridge) within the basin of the River Al-Wand in the western and eastern part within the northern Diyala section."
The source added: "The operation comes as part of a plan to enhance security and stability in a sprawling agricultural environment.. and prevent any violations while tracking those wanted by the judiciary on all charges.
"The operation is being carried out within targets with the support of the Iraqi army aviation in order to address any targets in the depth," he said.
It is worth mentioning that Diyala witnesses security operations from time to time to track down terrorist and criminal networks within several axes."
