ANBAR July 26. 2024 (Saba) - A security source in the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces Operations Command in Anbar province said Friday that an attempt to detonate a car bomb was thwarted in a security operation that targeted various areas of the western Anbar desert.
The source said in a statement to the Iraqi news agency "information": "A force of the Popular Mobilization foiled an attempt to detonate a wheel bomb ambush after spotting remnants of ISIS terrorist cells are booby-trapping a pickup wheel and parking it on one of the main roads leading to the western Anbar desert areas to target the security forces."
The source added: "The remnants of the criminal organization were throwing the wheel at the security forces. "A force from the explosives handling squad neutralized the seized wheel and detonated it remotely without causing any human or material casualties in the force," it said.
"Intelligence enabled the force to thwart the attempt to detonate the wheel bomb," it said.
