MOSCOW July 25. 2024 (Saba) -The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers, with the participation of Chinese bombers, carried out joint patrol missions near the Alaska Peninsula.
An air group consisting of Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Force and Hun-6K strategic bombers of the People's Liberation Army Air Force carried out air patrols over the waters of the Chukchi and Bering seas, and the northern part of the Pacific Ocean, the ministry said in a statement today.
The statement added that the air cover was provided by Su-30SM and Su-35 fighter jets of the Russian Aerospace Force.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in its statement that "the duration of joint flight of Russian and Chinese aircraft extended to more than five hours."
The ministry stressed that in carrying out the tasks, the planes of the two countries acted in accordance with the provisions of international law; there were no violations of the airspace of foreign countries. Noting that all participating aircraft returned to their bases safely, after the end of the joint air patrol mission.
China has stressed that the joint patrol with Russia near Alaska does not target a third party.
The Chinese and Russian armed forces began joint exercises in waters and airspace near the southern Chinese city of Zhanjiang earlier this month.
During a press conference, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said the drills are being conducted in accordance with the annual military participation plan between China and Russia and in accordance with a bilateral agreement.
The Chinese Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the China-Russia military exercises will contribute to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
On July 17, the Chinese and Russian navies began joint military live-fire exercises in the South China Sea and the eastern and northern Pacific Ocean.
