SANA'A July 25. 2024 (Saba) - Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government Mohammed al-Muayadi has emphasized the importance of supporting al-Ahly Club in the Capital Sana'a as it prepares for its Gulf journey, scheduled to begin next September.

In a meeting with Sheikh Yahya al-Habbari, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Honor for al-Ahly Sana'a, club official Hammoud Al-Naqib, and club representative in the Football Association Abdulwahab al-Zurqa, Minister al-Muayadi confirmed the Ministry’s readiness to support al-Ahly according to available resources. This support aims to ensure the club's best representation in the Gulf Club Championship.

The meeting, which also included Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Sector Kamal al-Sharif and Director of the Minister’s Office Yahya al-Muayadi, saw the Minister calling on al-Ahly Club's leadership and businessmen to back the team in its Gulf journey as an ambassador for Yemeni football.

Minister al-Muayadi praised Sheikh al-Habbari for his generous support of al-Ahly and Yemeni sports, highlighting his loyalty to the Red Castle and various sports.

He called for unity around the team and its staff to ensure a strong performance in the championship, representing Yemen honorably despite differences in resources compared to Gulf clubs.

Sheikh al-Habbari commended Minister Al-Muaydi for his dedication to sports activities and support for Al-Ahly's participation in the tournament, marking the first participation of a Yemeni club.

Al-Ahly Club's administration had submitted a detailed report on external participation documents and an estimated budget to the minister, who forwarded it to the relevant authority for review.

Meetings between ministry specialists and al-Ahly Club representatives will continue over the next two days, with a detailed report to be presented to the Minister.
