BEIJING July 23. 2024 (Saba) - Hossam Badran, Head of the National Relations Office of Hamas and a member of the Political Bureau, lauded the “Beijing Declaration” as a significant advance towards achieving Palestinian national unity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday and carried by the Palestinian Information Center, Badran emphasized the importance of the declaration, highlighting China's influential role and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. He commended China's efforts in facilitating this declaration, noting that it marks a pivotal moment due to China's international stature and its stance against the exclusivity policies of the United States regarding the Palestinian issue.
Badran expressed appreciation for China’s initiative, which he sees as crucial in addressing the American administration's bias and its partnership with the occupation forces. He underscored that the declaration is timely, given the severe situation in Gaza.
According to Badran, the declaration clearly outlines Palestinian demands, including a ceasefire, complete withdrawal of forces from Gaza, relief efforts, and reconstruction. He highlighted that a key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to form a Palestinian national consensus government to manage affairs in Gaza and the West Bank, oversee reconstruction, and prepare for elections.
Badran described this proposed government as an ideal solution for the Palestinian situation post-conflict, aiming to protect Palestinian interests against external interference. He also noted the commitment to address ongoing violations, support prisoners, and oppose attempts to alter the status of holy sites in al-Quds.
The Beijing Declaration, according to Badran, represents a united front among Palestinian factions and a strategic step toward confronting the occupation and ensuring Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
