DAMASCUS July 14. 2024 (Saba) -Resuming normal relation with Turkey depends on the restoration of the situation prevailing before 2011, as a basis for the two countries' security and stability, the Syrian foreign ministry said on Saturday.
The Arab Republic of Syria has always been determined to distinguish clearly between peoples, in one side, and government's practices and policies that harmed Syria and their own countries, on the other, the ministry added in a statement carried by SANA.
It is Syria's content that countries' interests are built on sound inter-relations, but not on confrontations and hostility, the statement read. Accordingly, Syria is always willing to deal positively with all the initiatives proposed to boost its relations with those countries.
Syria has similarly dealt with initiatives to correct the Syria-Turkey relations, and thinks that the result of these initiatives is not aimed at propaganda, but it rather serves as a purposeful course based on actual facts and on certain principles governing bilateral relations with its basis is to respect sovereignty, independence and land integrity, to confront every threat to its security and stability, and to serve common interests of the two countries and peoples, the ministry said.
