IBB July 13. 2024 (Saba) - The inauguration of a solar-powered water project in Hazm al-Odain district, Ibb province, on Saturday marked a significant development aimed at enhancing access to clean water.
Financed by the local authority's "General Administration of Initiatives" at a cost of 30 million YER, the project aims to alleviate the burden on residents in sourcing potable water amidst challenging circumstances.
Bandar al-Ahdal, the Director General of Initiatives in the province, highlighted the project's role in rehabilitating vital water infrastructure and integrating sustainable energy solutions.
Emphasizing water projects as a priority within the province's initiative plan, he stressed their essential role in reducing costs and ensuring accessibility to safe water.
Zakaria al-Masawa, the Director of Hazm al-Odain district, underscored the project's impact on meeting community water needs economically.
He expressed gratitude towards the Initiatives Department and local authorities for their efforts in supporting the project, which includes three water distribution points powered by solar energy. This transition to solar power is expected to significantly lower operational costs compared to traditional electrical pumping methods.
The initiative reflects Yemen's commitment to leveraging renewable energy solutions to improve essential services, reinforcing resilience amidst ongoing challenges.
