SANAA July 13. 2024 (Saba) - Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Daris, alongside Dr. Ismail al-Mahaqri, Minister of Legal Affairs, on Saturday inaugurated a specialized training program aimed at developing the legal expertise of staff within the Ministry of Oil and its affiliated units.

Organized by the Legal Training Center at the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the three-week program targets 27 personnel from the Ministry of Oil and Minerals and its associated entities. Its focus lies on enhancing capabilities in legislative drafting and contract formulation.

During the launch ceremony, attended by Yasser al-Wahidi, Deputy Minister of Oil and Acting Executive Director of the Yemen Gas Company, Minister Daris emphasized the critical importance of such initiatives. He underscored the program's role in advancing the legal proficiency of oil sector personnel, aligning with Yemen's strategic goals in the oil and mineral sectors.

Minister Daris commended the dedication of the legal staff and reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to ensuring they are equipped to effectively fulfill their roles.

Addressing the participants, Minister Daris encouraged them to leverage the training to broaden their legal knowledge and skillsets.

He highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Ministries of Legal Affairs and Oil as essential to achieving shared objectives.

Minister al-Mahaqri elaborated on the program's objectives, noting its emphasis on legal drafting techniques, contract formulation, and legal representation in judicial proceedings. He stressed the importance of building a cadre of qualified legal professionals capable of safeguarding the state's interests.

Al-Mahaqri further emphasized the Ministry of Legal Affairs' commitment to enhancing legal expertise across various sectors, citing it as a top priority in their ongoing reforms.

The program's curriculum includes comprehensive training on the development and interpretation of legal texts, aiming to elevate participants' understanding and proficiency in legal matters.
