BRUSSELS July 10. 2024 (Saba) -The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate demanded through letters addressed to representatives of parliamentary blocs in the European Union, clear positions on the crimes of the Zionist enemy, especially attacks against journalists, including killing and arrest, during the next parliamentary session of the European Parliament.
The head of the branch of the Journalists Syndicate in Europe, Yusuf Habash, stressed today the Syndicate's concern about the performance of the newly elected legislative bodies regarding the situation in Palestine, which was evident through the position of European Commission President von der Leyen and European Parliament President Mezzula, which included unconditional support for the occupying power.
The syndicate stressed the seriousness and tragedy of the current humanitarian situation in Gaza for the tenth consecutive month, which reflected strongly on journalists, their families and their safety, and that what journalists are subjected to is a war crime and genocide in violation of international law and human rights standards, with the continued rejection of the Israeli occupation to cease fire, lift the siege and open crossings for humanitarian aid.
The syndicate submitted statements related to its address to the bodies of the International Criminal Court and human rights bodies to hold the occupying power accountable for its crimes against journalists, stressing the importance of the European position pressing within the framework of the International Criminal Court in order to take urgent and concrete measures to hold the perpetrators of crimes against journalists accountable, and provide them with protection in accordance with international human rights law.
