CARACAS July 06. 2024 (Saba) - Venezuela opened an investigation on Saturday, into a plot revealed by an armed Colombian group to destabilize the country before the presidential elections scheduled for July 28.

Agence France-Presse quoted Venezuelan Attorney General Tarek William Saab as saying on the X platform: He ordered the opening of an investigation to punish those responsible for the new plot to assassinate the head of state and destabilize the country, against the backdrop of what was published by a group called the Self-Defense Invasion Forces in Sierra Nevada, in which it said: It was contacted with the aim of destabilizing the government of the Republic of Venezuela and asked to damage the electricity infrastructure and move against President Nicolas Maduro and take action if he is re-elected by infiltrating protests and creating chaos in the streets.

The group said: It was contacted by members of the Venezuelan far right to bring a thousand elements to incite violence in the border states.
