KHARTOUM July 01. 2024 (Saba) - Over 55,000 civilians have been displaced from Singa city and nearby villages in the Sudanese state of Sennar, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said late on Sunday, following battles putting the army against rapid support forces (RSF) south the African country.
The army-RSF armed clashes kept on expanding across Sennar, IOM added in a statement carried by 'Sudan News' website, with reports on skirmishes in Singa city.
Nearly 55,440 people left Singa and nearby villages in Sennar, following the growing security worries, field teams said, as some 50,000 people refuged to different parts of Gadarif State.
While 5,000 Sudanese relocated to Damazin city in the Blue Nile, 440 others displaced to Jabalin city in the White Nile state, with the IOM dubbing the situation as "tensioned and unpredictable."
