GAZA June 27. 2024 (Saba) - The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced on Thursday, a decline in the gross domestic product in Palestine by 35 percent, and the collapse of the economic system of the Gaza Strip in light of the sharp contraction in the gross domestic product in the sector during the first quarter of this year by 86 percent compared to the same period in 2023, as a result of the ongoing Zionist aggression.
The Bureau said in a statement: Initial estimates indicate a decline in the gross domestic product in Palestine during the first quarter of 2024 by 35 percent compared to the corresponding quarter, as all economic activities recorded a sharp decline in added value.
Mining, manufacturing, water and electricity activities also decreased by 63 percent in Palestine (29 percent for the West Bank, 95 percent for the Gaza Strip), construction activity decreased by 51 percent (42 percent for the West Bank, 99 percent for the Gaza Strip), agriculture, forestry and fishing activity decreased by 33 percent (11 percent for the West Bank, 93 percent for the Gaza Strip), and wholesale and retail trade and repair of vehicles and motorcycles activity decreased by 36 percent (27 percent for the West Bank, 96 percent for the Gaza Strip).
