NIAMEY June 26. 2024 (Saba) - 21 people have been killed and nine others injured in a terrorist attack in western Nigeria.

"Armed terrorist groups attacked security forces center near Tassia town, killing 21 people, including a civilian, and wounding nine," Agence France-Presse quoted the Nigerian Ministry of Defense as saying on Tuesday in a statement, confirming that dozens of attackers were killed during clashes with security forces.

The Ministry declared three days of national mourning, starting today, during which flags will be lowered at half-staff, indicating the deployment of air and ground reinforcements to chase the militants who fled.

Tassia is located in the Tillaberi region bordering Mali and Burkina Faso, where militants linked to the terrorist organizations Al-Qaeda and ISIS launch attacks targeting security forces and civilians.
