SANA'A June 25, 2024 (Saba) – Yemen's National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning on Tuesday expected scattered thunderstorms in a number of governorates, and very hot weather in the desert and coastal areas during the next 24 hours.
According to the weather forecast issued by the center, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), rain is expected to fall accompanied by thunderstorms and hail at times in Ibb, Taiz, Al Mahweet, Dhamar, Al Baydha, Al Dhalea, Raymah and parts of Sana’a, Amran, Sa'ada governorates and the Tehama Plain.
Scattered rain is likely to fall in parts of Hadhramout, Al-Mahara, Shabwa, Abyan and Lahj governorates.
The center indicated that the weather may be very hot in desert areas, where maximum temperatures range between 38-44 degrees Celsius, and hot in the plains and coastal areas, where temperatures range between 35-40 degrees.
According to the center, strong winds may blow around the Socotra Archipelago, reaching a maximum speed of 42 knots, and moderate to active winds on the eastern and southern coasts.
He reported that the amount of rain that fell during the past 24 hours at some weather monitoring stations was as follows: Al-Sada - Ibb: 14 mm, Sana'a: 7.4, Amran: 7, Al-Hawban - Taiz: 2.5, Hajjah: 1.4, Ibb: 0.8 mm.
The center warned citizens against being in the depths of valleys and flood paths, against thunderstorms in areas where rain is expected, and against low horizontal visibility due to heavy low clouds and rainfall.
It also warned against hot and extremely hot climates in deserts, inland plateaus, plains and coastal areas, and advised against direct exposure to the sun's rays.
The Center also warned fishermen and seafarers of sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra Archipelago and the eastern and southern coasts.
