TEHRAN June 25. 2024 (Saba) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko has revealed that Moscow is on the verge of finalizing a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Iran, with expectations to sign it soon.
According to Sputnik news agency, Rudenko stated, "We anticipate that this agreement will be signed in the near future, as the text has been almost finalized. All necessary formulations have been agreed upon."
He emphasized that the primary objective for both nations now is to complete the procedural steps required for the agreement's signing.
Earlier this month, Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Department for Asian Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, mentioned that while the comprehensive cooperation agreement between Moscow and Tehran is imminent, its finalization has been delayed temporarily following the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.
Speaking at the Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed confidence in the continuity of Russian-Iranian relations established during Raisi's tenure. Putin remarked, "We genuinely hope that everything achieved in Russian-Iranian relations during Raisi's time will persist," affirming, "I have no doubt about it because everything we do is in mutual interest."
Putin described his interactions with the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as characterized by reliability and practicality.
