NEW YORK June 11. 2024 (Saba) - Although imperfect, this text of the UN Security Council resolution offers the Palestinian people a glimmer of hope, the Algerian representative to the UN said late on Monday, after his country voted in favor of the draft in order to give way for diplomacy to put an end for lingering war in Gaza.

The Israeli persistent brutality will lead only to further unjustified deaths and casualties, Ammar Bin Jamea added, citing the Zionist massacre in Nossairat Camp last week.

Unless the basic reasons are correctly dealt with, further tragedies and sufferings are absolutely looming, he said, noting that the Israeli occupation should be ended.

The UNSC resolution stipulates for 6-week ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal from populated areas in Gaza, and release of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli detainees.
