OCCUPIED QUDS June 09. 2024 (Saba) - Zionist War Council members Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot announced their resignation from the Zionist enemy government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a press conference on Sunday evening, Gantz called on Netanyahu to hold elections as soon as possible.
Gantz said: "Netanyahu is preventing a real victory... Political considerations in Netanyahu's government are obstructing strategic decisions in the Gaza war."
He called on party leaders to stand by him in order to hold elections to form a "national Zionist unity government," according to him.
Gantz added, addressing Minister of War Yoav Galant: "You have to be brave and do what you have to do."
Gantz's resignation comes after he postponed it due to the rescue operation of the four detainees from the Nuseirat camp yesterday, Saturday.
Gantz, the former Israeli chief of staff, threatened last month to resign from the government headed by Netanyahu if a new plan for the war in Gaza was not adopted by June 8.
For his part, Eisenkot said in his resignation letter to Netanyahu that the cabinet he headed "did not make the decisive decisions required to achieve the goals of the war", adding that avoiding making decisive decisions harms the strategic situation and national security of "Israel".
He continued: "We have recently seen that the decisions made by Netanyahu are not necessarily motivated by the country's interests", stressing that "the price of the war is painful and more than a thousand Zionist families paid a heavy price."
