BENI June 09. 2024 (Saba) - At least 38 people have been killed in an attack by gunmen on villages east the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Local media last night quoted a local civil society leader as saying that elements of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) group that originated in neighboring Uganda carried out the attack and used weapons and machetes to attack residents of villages in Beni district in North Kivu province.

The group is now based in eastern Congo and has pledged allegiance to so-called Islamic State and has launched repeated attacks.
The ADF is accused of being behind another attack on several villages that killed at least 16 last week.
