SANA'A June 08. 2024 (Saba) - The General Federation of Yemeni Trade Unions condemned the decision of the Minister of Transport in the mercenary government to transfer the remainder of the activity of the Yemeni Airlines Company from the capital, Sana'a, to Aden city.
In a statement, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Union denounced the decision’s directive to the airline company to complete the arrangements for transferring the remainder of the company’s departments and supplying the proceeds of airline ticket sales to the company’s accounts in the Central Bank of Aden or the company’s bank accounts abroad, as of Date: June 2, 2024 AD.
The statement stated that these measures are aimed at destroying the Yemeni Airlines Company and its position, striking the movement of the travel market, continuing to impose a more deadly , destructive siege on the Yemeni people of all sects, and causing more trouble to Yemeni travelers abroad, most of whom suffer from incurable diseases and cannot bear the trouble of traveling by land to Aden and the hardships they may encounter on their way.
The Union also confirmed that this ill-considered measure will lead to the dismissal of a large number of employees of Yemen Airways and its associated companies, as most of the employees will not be able to move to work in the company’s offices in Aden for economic, security and livelihood reasons. In addition to that it will cause great harm to the Yemeni travel market and many will be forced to travel from agencies to closing their doors, ending their activities, and laying off their employees.
The Federation of Yemeni Trade Unions called on the caretaker government to quickly address the situation and take what it deems appropriate to ensure that this violation is not implemented due to its economic effects , troubles on the citizen , the worker, and in implementation of external directives aimed at destroying the national economy.
It also called on the wise people on the other side to assume their national responsibilities and not to follow what is being plotted against the targeted nation with all its sects, parties and groups... stressing that the Union, through its patriotic and humanitarian positions, always seeks to feel responsibility , protect national institutions and their workers so that they can perform their work in accordance with the laws of their establishment, away from Political tensions, as cloning these institutions is a dangerous step towards depleting their funds, which threatens their bankruptcy in the future.
