SANA'A May 11. 2024 (Saba) - The first national festival of Yemeni mangoes, organized by the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, and the Agricultural and Fisheries Initiatives Projects Financing Unit in the Municipality, will launch tomorrow, Sunday, in the Seventy Park in Amanat Al-Asimah.
The five-day festival aims to promote and market the fruits of mango fruit in Yemen, network between producers, traders, exporters and manufacturers, and introduce the varieties of mangoes grown in Yemen.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation - Vice Chairman of the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai confirmed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) the completion of all preparations for the festival and the inauguration of its activities.
He pointed to the importance of the festival in promoting the Yemeni mango fruit, developing its marketing mechanism, and raising the quantities of foreign exports from it, stressing the need for everyone's concerted efforts, continuous coordination and work to develop Yemen's productivity of mango fruit.
He pointed to the importance of holding the festival, which comes in parallel with the keenness of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to support agricultural products, benefit from Yemen's resources, and use mango pulp in local industries, instead of importing from abroad, in a step aimed at supporting local industries.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture indicated that the number of participants in the festival is 120 participants, including ten agricultural associations, and 26 participants between local agents and external exporters, in addition to large farmers, marketing associations, and about 30 productive families that use local raw materials, in addition to local products including honey, coffee and local grains.
The festival includes cultural and heritage events and activities, purposeful plays, competitions and in-kind and cash prizes, in addition to presenting scientific working papers presented by a group of academics, experts and agricultural specialists.
The fruits of the Yemeni mango fruit are considered one of the finest types and varieties of mangoes in the world and are characterized by high quality and wonderful taste, which made them very popular by consumers locally and abroad.
