SANA'A May 06. 2024 (Saba) - Sana'a Governorate's Undersecretary for the Services Sector and Vice Chairman of the Emergency Committee, Fares Al-Kahali, inspected the areas affected by torrential rains in Al-Hayma Al-Dakhiliya District.
Undersecretary Al-Kahali, along with the Director of Human Resources in the Governorate, Abdul Karim Al-Salami, and Emergency Engineer, Anis Al-Shami, were briefed on the damage and losses resulting from the landslides and rocks in the agricultural terraces in Al-Oran village, Bani Al-Nimri, as a result of the heavy rains.
He also saw the damage caused by rockslides on the side road leading to Al-Qaffal, Al-Naqa’ and Al-Sharaf villages, and dirt and rock slides on the asphalt road leading to the isolation and Bani Al-Nimri villages, which led to the blockage of the ferries and the erosion of the asphalt layer.
Agent Al-Kahali met with the citizens of the village and listened to explanations from them about the causes of the rock collapses resulting from the saturation of agricultural and forest terraces with rainwater and the fall of large rock blocks, which led to collapses and the destruction of large areas of agricultural terraces and the burial of drinking water sources, as well as the cutting of roads leading to the villages.
The governor's agent directed the Emergency Department to quickly provide bulldozer equipment and diesel to remove soil and rock blocks and open roads to facilitate the passage of citizens.
He stressed the keenness of the governorate leadership to address the damage, alleviate the suffering of the population, and put in place the urgent necessary treatments for the affected areas.
In turn, the Emergency Director stressed the keenness to maintain and rehabilitate the damaged roads, pointing out the importance of uniting everyone’s efforts and activating community initiatives in this aspect.
