[01/May/2024]

SANA'A May 01. 2024 (Saba) - The ninth scientific conference of the Yemeni Orthopedic Association began on Wednesday at Sana'a University with the participation of a group of professors and orthopedic doctors from various governorates.

At the opening of the conference, a member of the Supreme Political Council, Sultan Al-Sami'i, stressed the importance of holding the conference at the present time to review the latest scientific findings and modern technologies in orthopedics, spine and accident injuries, and to provide solutions to the effects of the aggression on Yemen.

He praised the level of participation and interaction of doctors and professors of orthopedics from various Yemeni governorates, especially from "Hadramawt, Shabwa, Aden, and Al-Mahra" to attend this scientific event under the roof of one Yemen.

The member of the top politician stressed that Yemenis are unanimous in rejecting division and uniting ranks, especially after the vision and schemes sought by the enemy to tear Yemen apart and displace its sons became clear. He pointed out that everyone is keen to keep Yemen united and strong.

He stressed the need to benefit from the work of the conference and its scientific research to come up with recommendations that contribute to serving the country.

At the conference, which was attended by Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Roads Ghaleb Mutlaq, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, Dr. Ali Jahaf, pointed out the importance of holding such scientific conferences to exchange experiences to improve and develop the health sector and the services provided to citizens in light of the current conditions.

He pointed to the importance of benefiting from the conference in developing performance and keeping pace with everything new in the field of orthopedics to improve services, alleviate the suffering of patients and reduce travel for treatment abroad.

Undersecretary Jahaf confirmed that the ministry has completed the preparation of the unified medical file and will begin preparing guides for treatment protocols. He called on the Association of Orthopedic Surgeons to work on opening quality medical courses specialized in orthopedic surgery.

He stressed the commitment to professional ethics and the provision of health care services to citizens. He stressed that the lack of medical ethics disrupts the profession and leads to a lack of trust in doctors, which requires behavior and work.

The President of the Orthopedic Surgeons Association, Dr. Abdul Raqib Al-Marah, confirmed that the conference will discuss over two days 40 research and scientific papers centered on orthopedic and spine surgery, accidents and injuries, addressing the effects of war on individuals, joint surgery and how to treat them.

He pointed out that the conference, in which more than 700 orthopedic doctors and surgeons from different governorates and board and graduate students in a number of universities will also discuss modern methods of artificial joint surgery, arthroscopic complex pelvic fractures, and how to deal with pediatric fracture surgery and orthopedic microsurgery.

Dr. Al-Marah expressed pride in the achievements of orthopedic consultants and doctors of all specialties who were able under difficult circumstances to hold medical conferences to keep pace with global developments and exchange experiences and skills among them.

He stressed that the conference seeks to develop the skills and capabilities of orthopedic doctors and surgeons through the exchange of experiences and knowledge between doctors, discussing and enriching scientific papers aimed at following up the rapid medical scientific developments, and upgrading experiences, diagnostic methods and modern technologies that raise the capabilities of doctors and orthopedic surgeons.

He pointed out that the conference will include holding scientific workshops on orthopedic surgery and documenting it to be accessible to all, as well as launching the website of the Yemeni Orthopedic Society and preparing a scientific journal for orthopedic surgeons.

Dr. Al-Marah expressed the solidarity of the members of the Yemeni Orthopedic Society with the brothers in Palestine who are subjected to a war of extermination and starvation by the usurping Zionist entity supported by the United States and the West. He stressed the readiness of a group of Yemeni orthopedic doctors and surgeons to travel to Gaza to help the wounded and sick as a humanitarian, religious and moral duty.
