SANA'A April 16. 2024 (Saba) - A meeting in Sana'a on Tuesday, which included the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Eng. Abdul Malik Al-Thawr, and the Executive Director of the Yemen Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization (YSMO), Sam Al-Bashiri, discussed ways to enhance aspects of cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the Organization in the field of standards and metrology.
The meeting touched on the supervisory role played by the authority and the services it provides for agricultural products to achieve a competitive advantage in the local and export markets to foreign markets.
In the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation praised the role of the Standards and Metrology Organization in monitoring goods and products to ensure their quality, preserve the safety and health of the citizen, and protect the consumer and the national economy from goods that do not conform to the approved standard specifications.
He stressed the keenness on coordination and cooperation between the ministry and the organization to protect Yemeni products from fraud due to their quality and work on consumer safety.
For his part, Al-Bashiri stressed the authority's keenness to help local producers by providing standard specifications, ensuring that their products conform to them and ensuring their quality to enhance their competitiveness against other products in the local and foreign markets.
He touched on the efforts of the authority in the continuous modernization of its work in a way that contributes to consumer protection and upgrading the level of the national product. He pointed to the procedures implemented by the organization in this aspect, including the process of examining and testing various goods and products.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Directors General of the organization and a number of directors of departments in the organization.
