Fears & risks of US plan to deliver aid to Gaza by sea
Fears & risks of US plan to deliver aid to Gaza by sea
Fears & risks of US plan to deliver aid to Gaza by sea
[Sat, 27 Apr 2024 13:44:58 +0300]

SANA'A April 27. 2024 (Saba) - Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and many international observers fear the dangers of an American plan currently underway in the Gaza Sea to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip, from a floating port, that America, the partner of the Zionist enemy entity in the aggression, will seek to displace them through the port and deliver equipment and weapons to the usurping entity.

While work is underway to carry out the operation in full swing, with more than 1,000 US troops in this operation, Washington hints that there will be no "soldiers on the ground," while many aid organizations stress that increasing shipments arriving by land is still the only practical option to meet the needs of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In this context, Dr. Hassan Ayoub, a professor of political science at the Palestinian An-Najah University, believes that the American decision came too late, and that it will not change the equation of the war of starvation waged by the Zionist enemy against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

He said that the resolution recognizes the Zionist conditions, which are based on its direct control or through its allies of what could enter Gaza in terms of relief, medical and other materials. He added: "This step comes in coordination with Israel, and is conditional on not allowing any official Palestinian party to supervise the distribution of aid, and replacing invented formations from Israel with them."

In turn, the Palestinian writer and political analyst Ahmed Al-Haila considered in a press statement Biden's announcement that it is an electoral speech directed at segments of the American people angry at the performance of his administration, which is involved in the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip, by supplying the Zionist enemy army with weapons and political cover.

Biden's stance is an attempt to curry favor with those segments such as the youth, liberal progressives, and Muslim and Arab minorities ahead of the presidential elections in November.

Western media reports say that any US plan to deliver aid to Gaza from a floating port at sea will face significant security challenges, chief among them exposure to hostile fire, as well as crowds of desperate civilians gathering on the coast.

More than a thousand U.S. troops are expected to take part in the operation, while there will be no "soldiers on the ground," according to the Pentagon.

To help accomplish the task, the United States has reportedly partnered with a little-known private company called Fogbo, run by former U.S. military and intelligence officials, to deliver two million meals a day to the Gaza Strip, where the United Nations warns of an "almost certain" famine.

According to the Pentagon, the plan includes two main components that need to be grouped together: a huge floating berth made of steel pieces, a two-lane paved road 548 meters (1,800 feet) long and a pier, the paved road consisting of steel pieces each 12 meters (40 feet) long connected together to the coast.

Cargo ships loaded with aid materials will arrive at the dock, and the cargo will then be unloaded into a range of boats and small vessels – known as logistics support vessels – before being taken to the quay on the coast.

From the sidewalk, trucks will transport aid to land and then into the Gaza Strip.

The paved road will connect the huge marina floating in the sea to the coast, so that the United States does not have to deploy troops on the ground in Gaza. The United States supports the Zionist entity and provides it with money, weapons and political cover so that the entity can commit the most heinous massacres and genocide in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The amphibious construction project is officially known as "Combined Logistics on the Coast," and the U.S. military has previously used a similar project in Kuwait, Haiti and Central America for relief missions.

Early versions of this project were used in World War II after the invasion of Normandy on the day of the D-D-Day (June 6, 1944).

In July last year, the U.S. War Department used a similar version of the project during major exercises in Australia.

Retired Marine Colonel Mark Kansian, an expert in planning amphibious operations, said: "The military preferences, of course, having a functioning port, it makes everything easier." This is not always possible, either because there is conflict or even in times of peace in humanitarian missions.

Reports say that containers and cargo ships will be unloaded, and the aid will be loaded onto trucks that will in turn transport it to distribution points inside Gaza, as part of a plan approved by the United States and the Zionist enemy entity.

The BBC website reported that Fugbo was still looking for funding and had briefed a number of governments in Europe and the Middle East on the plans, and that over the longer term, the company plans to set up a donor-run foundation to bring aid into Gaza.

Here, many observers wonder about the feasibility of the American operation for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and what is the goal of the entire operation, which has the approval of the two partners in the aggression on Gaza "American and Zionist"?! And what is the hidden purpose of the pier and the seaport? How will the security aspect be addressed, whether with regard to the possibility of hostile fire in the still raging conflict zone, or with regard to the masses of civilians on aid shipments?

If the operation has the approval of the usurping entity, why doesn't America pressure aid to enter through land ports? For whose benefit is the entire US operation taking place in the Gaza Sea?
